ALBUQUERQUE BIOLOGICAL PARK
New Mexico’s Incredible Biodiversity
One of the most fantastic locations in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the Albuquerque Biological Park. A museum that centers around the environment, the park is broken up into four separate facilities – an aquarium, a beach, a botanical garden, and a zoo. Because of what the Albuquerque Biological Park offers, it is a wonderful location for families to take their children.
Albuquerque Aquarium
The first facility that makes up the Albuquerque Biological Park is the Albuquerque Aquarium. This facility is made up of an ocean tank that holds 285,000 gallons of water. Inside this tank, visitors can marvel at species that live in shallow waters, coral reefs, surf zones, and more. The aquarium houses other exciting exhibits that adults and little ones alike can enjoy, and as an aquarium, this one certainly does not disappoint. The second part of this park is Tingley Beach. This is where visitors can unwind and relax. Fishing is an option for those who want to try their hand at being anglers, and those who want to lay out a beach towel and enjoy a picnic can do so here as well.
Albuquerque Gardens
The next facility that is housed within the Albuquerque Biological Park is the Botanic Garden. Nature lovers will especially enjoy literally stopping and smelling the roses here. The botanic garden contains 36 acres of beauty, on which rests a 10,000-square-foot conservatory made of glass that contains desert and Mediterranean plants and flowers.
Albuquerque Zoo
The last facility that makes up this beautiful park in Albuquerque is the zoo. You simply cannot have an environmental museum without animals! The Rio Grande Zoo rests on 64 acres of land, with more than two miles of paths. As for the animals, 250 species that are exotic and native call this zoo home. Visitors can expect to see such creatures as elephants, camels, lion, snow leopards, tigers, seals, zebras, and much more. The Albuquerque Biological Park contains a railroad that connects each facility, allowing visitors to catch a train between each adventure. Locals and visitors alike can find amazement when at this location, but especially those who are traveling with children. You’ll be able to see their little faces light up with wonder as they marvel at majestic creatures of the ocean, exotic plants and flowers, and animals that they may never have seen before!
