Discover One Of Albuquerque’s Hidden Gems

Albuquerque, New Mexico, is full of history and culture and locations that share this fact with the world. One of these locations is the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The IPCC, as it is abbreviated, works hard to preserve the heritage and culture of the Pueblo people, and share a few their accomplishments, their past, and their future. The IPCC is a fabulous museum where New Mexico’s Pueblo people tell their story. The facility is not only a gateway to visitors of New Mexico but a place where pottery and other creations by Pueblo artists can be seen. Many activities are also available throughout the year, such as hands-on programs for young ones, art festivals, and events with Native American leaders and artists. Currently, in the year of 2017, there are two exhibits at the IPCC.

Exhibits

The first exhibit is, “Pueblo People & Our Modern Environment.” It focuses on a relationship with Mother Earth and how it is our responsibility to protect precious natural resources for our future. It will be available until September. The second exhibit is called, “Long Ago…”. It explores the importance of telling stories, and how storytelling has evolved throughout time and its connection to the values of the Pueblo people. This exhibit will be in place until July 2018. Apart from these wonderful exhibits, there is more to enjoy and learn from at the IPCC. Visitors can marvel at Pueblo works of arts, murals, jewelry, over 2,500 pieces of pottery, and more from the collection that nurtures the Pueblo people’s heritage. Archives and a library are also on site. These are dedicated to preserving the culture and history of the Pueblo people. Here visitors can learn about the lives, beliefs, tradition, and other fascinating information regarding this people.

Research Library

The research library contains manuscripts, reports, even photographs that can help individuals visiting the IPCC feel a connection with a group of people that has so much culture and wisdom to offer.
