Why Solar Matters To Me (Part 2- Energy Independence)
In my previous post I discussed how economic factors have influenced why solar matters to me and my family. Today I will outline how solar supports my desire for energy independence.
NM is uniquely positioned to be a clean-energy leader in the United States. We have an abundance of open space that could be utilized to take advantage of our ideal solar climate. Despite this, solar is a very small part of PNM’s energy portfolio because they are a monopolistic corporation that seeks out the cheapest options (i.e. coal) to maximize profit.
PNM is the largest energy producer in New Mexico with a market capitalization of $3.28 billion. The top five executives are expected to have earned $8.66 million for 2016 with the CEO receiving $4.118 million alone. Those astronomical compensation rates are supported by the seemingly-endless rate hikes that we as consumers have been subjected to over the years as well as questionable billing practices paid for by tax payers for work done for the City of Albuquerque.
Solar power will allow me to take control of my electricity production so I no longer have to provide financial support to this greedy monopoly. I no longer have to sit back helpless to the out-of-control rate hikes. I no longer have to pay exorbitant rates for dirty coal energy. I no longer have to sacrifice financially to help pay millions of dollars of executive compensations. I no longer have to be a victim of another greedy corporation. Solar gives me the ability to have energy Independence for my family.
Please look out for my next post in which I will discuss how environmental factors influence my decision to go solar. In the mean time, if you live in the Albuquerque and surrounding area and would like to learn more about going solar from one of the fastest growing Albuquerque solar panel installer, please give us a call at 505-415-6172 or Click Here to schedule a free consultation.
